Live fire tests highly successful once again during Customer Days 2011!
On 21 April, Brakel held this year’s edition of its annual Customer Days, including the accompanying live fire tests in Belgium. The participants – Brakel partners and their customers – were highly impressed by the three fire tests, which enabled them to experience first hand the role of a smoke & heat extraction system (SHE) in the event of fire.
This year too, there were substantial numbers of applicants for the Customer Days. In fact, participants from Austria, Poland, Portugal, Germany, France, Turkey and even Brazil attended. The event’s usual highlight, the fire tests, were held at the ANPI fire service training centre in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium.

Three tests were carried out: One in which the SHE system was not activated; one in which it was activated in time; and finally, one in which a fire in a home adjacent to an atrium was simulated.
… made quite an impression
This was most of the participants’ first live experience of an SHE system. All admitted that they were highly impressed with the effect, the benefit and the operation of Brakel’s smoke & heat extraction products. They also considered the event highly successful.
the day before, and afterwards…
The Customer Days programme also comprised a visit to the Brakel production plant, which has just been renovated to comply with the quick response manufacturing (QRM) concept. This visit featured a demonstration of the test setup, which Brakel uses to establish the water and air-tightness of its SHE products. Participants had the opportunity to enter the pressurized cabin, in which an underpressure exceeding 1000Pa was then created, to experience first hand the operation of the ventilator in extreme conditions.
