Brakel easily bears FPC audits
Since 2006, all lifesaving products – including smoke & heat exhaust ventilation (SHEV)) products – have to undergo a compulsory inspection, carried out by approved institutes in accordance with the EN-12101-2 standard. In addition, however, the production plant where the complete products are assembled has to be inspected by an independent body. The standard refers to the latter inspection as the FPC (Factory Production Control) audit. Brakel came through this audit at the close of 2009 with flying colours once more. you can therefore rest assured that Brakel products are compliant with all applicable European guidelines.
Product and production audit SHEV products have to comply with compulsory stringent requirements in the field of fire, life span, snow load, wind load and aerodynamic flow. Our production plant is therefore subjected to annual audits, to establish whether:
- Our SHEVproducts are still being manufactured as laid down in the original audit.
- We have a production system which vouches for suitable quality standards with regard to aspects including working methods, registration and filing of the various orders.
Independent institutes The inspections were carried out by MPA Germany and TNO/Efectis Netherlands. In November 2009, TNO/Efectis carried out an audit of our Luma and Estra RWA and ventilation windows. The institute also inspected the manufacturing process used to produce the Lumera type. In December 2009, MPA inspected our Inova, Ventria, Duo/Mono-Therma, Eura and Eura-R SHEV products.
Both inspection institutes complimented Brakel and have since issued us the FPC reports which authorise us to manufacture products in accordance with the EN 12101-2 standard.
