Partner Exuvent provides air supply by means of Estra louvre ventilators
April 2011 saw the official opening of the highly prestigious Forum Sintra shopping centre, which has a floor area of 55,000 m². A pleasant indoor climate and guaranteed fire safety are naturally crucial criteria in such a project. The shoppers naturally have to be made to feel both comfortable and safe! Our partner in Portugal, Exuvent, fitted the centre with 26 thermally insulated Estra louvre ventilators, to provide the air supply for both smoke & heat extraction and daily ventilation purposes.
In addition to comfort, however, aesthetics play a vital role in the prestigious image of a property such as Forum Sintra. The Estras therefore had to be aligned as seamlessly as possible with the glass facades at the various entrances. To this end, they were fitted with special 8-6-5.5.1 Coollite glazing with high insulation values. Furthermore, the frames were powder coated and anodised in matching SAPA colours.
Short installation period Another of the exceptional features of this project was the fact that Exuvent had very little time available for assembly and installation. In fact the pressure of time during the implementation phase was so considerable that the construction crews had to work day and night – and at the weekend, too – to complete the project. However, it all paid off in the end: On delivery of the building, Exuvent was the only contractor whose system was fully operational!
Centre for a population of over 621,000 Forum Sintra comprises 182 stores – including a Pingo Doce supermarket and branches of H&M, Primark, and New Yorker – which are accommodated on its three retail floors. However, it also caters to visitors in search of a little relaxation and recreation. For instance, it also features a food court comprising 20 restaurants and a seven-screen Castello Lopes multiplex cinema. The centre is designed to meet the needs of the population of Sintra and the surrounding area, which totals over 621,000 people.
