Lumera SHEV window passes EN-12101-2 inspection with flying colours!
The Lumera was the only Brakel product whose various versions had yet to be inspected for compliance with the EN12101-2 standard. This shortfall was therefore recently addressed. The Efectis inspection institute carried out a number of tests in the field of reliability, snow load and wind load on this architectural product.
The transparent Lumera ventilation window opened and closed 11,000 times in a row without fail, withstood a wind load of 3000 Pa and a snow load van 250 N/m² (at an ambient temperature of 0°C).
Cold test To establish the Lumera’s suitability for use in unheated areas, Efectis also to subject it to a cold test within the foreseeable future. The institute performs this test using a mobile ‘freezer’ which is large enough to accommodate a complete Lumera measuring 3000 x 1200 mm. The ventilation window will first be placed in the refrigerated container, whereupon the temperature will be reduced to -15°C. Then comes the most difficult part of the test: We have to persuade a ‘volunteer’ to enter the freezing cold container to check whether the ventilation window opens within 60 seconds…
Further details of this test are to be published in the next issue of our newsletter.
